I’m starting to learn the value of getting up while it’s still dark outside and run for the sunrise. The day can’t go wrong when we begin it with such power and beauty.
That’s what happened last September, 12th. I was at a friend’s and she insisted to give me the oportunity to make the photos below.
All of them were taken in the portuguese district of Santarém.
The first three images are from Almourol Castle, a medieval monument in the middle of Tagus river. As the sun arrived, we left Almourol.
Next stop, an old abandoned ceramic, I love the stork nest on the top of the chimney. Mostly because I don’t have storks back home.
Then we stopped at Constancia for our deserved breakfast and on our way back to Santarem, we still had a few minutes to visit Patacao. It was almost lunch time, light was too hard. Better go find something to eat. I had a train to catch later.

Começo a dar valor a levantar antes do nascer do sol e começar o dia vendo-o subir o horizonte. O dia 12 de setembro assim começou, graças a uma amiga, que fez questão de me levar ao nascer do sol. Há ofertas que não se negam, esta foi uma delas.
As primeiras 3 imagens são do Castelo de Almourol, antes e depois da hora mágica.
Paramos depois numa fábrica de cerâmica abandonada. Perto de casa tenho uma que não se compara em tamanho, apenas faltam os ninhos de cegonha no topo das chaminés.
Seguiu-se Constância, para o pequeno-almoço, e mais uma foto. Já no regresso a Santarém, um desvio ao Patacão, onde apanhei a fotógrafa em flagrante.
A luz estava dura, era hora de pensar em almoçar. Em poucas horas eu tinha de apanhar o comboio que me traria de volta a casa.
